Halloween pumpkins past their prime

It’s November 13th, and these Halloween pumpkins in my neighborhood are almost 2 weeks past their big day, and definitely past their prime. I like how–if you look from left to right– they seem to get in worse shape. We’ve got the guy at left who can still muster a laugh; the 2nd guy is a bit grumpy about still being out here, the 3rd guy is so tired, he’s fallen face forward and lost his hat. Then the 4th guy – my favorite – is just all sunken in, barely able to mutter a groan.

But at the same house, in the front yard, there’s a fresh and still-intact pumpkin, who can probably attribute his good condition to being painted instead of carved. But he’s still aghast at the condition of the others, especially my guy Yellow Pumpkin.

I have a habit of noticing random things while I’m out walking around, and this collection of pumpkins seemed to write their own story in my imagination.
